The Adventures of Alex: Alaska- The Last Frontier!

After four days, 53 Alaska FFA members and two hours of heavy snow, I’ve discovered that the land of mountains, wilderness and polar bears is also home to some amazing FFA members.

I had an absolute blast hanging out with the Fairbanks, Homer, Kodiak, North Pole and Palmer chapters and watching them rock their CDEs, participate in workshops and give back to the community through a day of service. Here’s a little glimpse of just how much fun we had!

The 2009-2010 Alaska FFA State Officers – Corinne, Ben, Emily, Irene and Isaac – did such an awesome job bringing all the chapters together and mixing fun with professionalism! I loved learning about Corinne’s dedication to the state for the past year, Ben’s natural ability to make everyone erupt into laughter, Emily’s heart for people, Irene’s strong standing character and Isaac’s belief-driven style of living. Many of you might recognize Isaac from National Convention- yes he was that awesome Alaska guy that sang with his guitar!!

A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to the 2010-2011 Alaska FFA State Officer team! Kevin, Lydia, Darien and Lindsey, you have such awesome potential and I can’t wait to watch you lead Alaska FFA this next year.

I met tons of phenomenal members that had a real impact on me. A quick thanks to Kevin from Kodiak, Ryan from North Pole, and Marie and Wendy from Homer for showing me the power of passionate, genuine people. You guys rock!

Here are my top five Alaska highlights!

1. Learning about the Envirothon while watching FFA members demonstrate outstanding skills and understanding

2. Seeing moose crossing signs EVERYWHERE

3. Watching Alaskans bust out some sweet dance moves to the “Lead Out Loud” song

4. Admiring the gorgeous, gigantic mountains that surrounded us in all directions

5. Getting to develop personal relationships with State Officers, State Officer Candidates, staff, Past State Officers and Alaska FFA members who live with heart
